Rudimental Live At Snowbombing: Review

The Forest Party, Mayrhofen, Austria 05/04/13

After a week of non-stop skiing, dancing and fancy-dress frivolity, the final Forest Party of Snowbombing Festival 2013 had a lot to live up to but as Rudimental took to the stage and the drums kicked in, any dampened spirits cause by the first rain of the festival were well and truly lifted.

Treating the crowd to some new tracks from their eagerly-awaited debut album Home at the end of the month, which features vocals from [uuid=9c4f9222-a88c-43fd-b075-536bf8dc2859]Emeli Sande[/uuid], [uuid=9f1a8f98-84f7-4738-b2d5-e037c8b07bdf]Angel Haze[/uuid] and Foxes among others, Rudimental proved there's a lot more to the London-based quartet than just drum 'n' bass.

Bringing the tempo down by offering up reggae and even a cover of what became MTV News' unofficial anthem of the week - Julio Bashmore's Au Seve (or technically we should say Austrian Filter House's Auf Babent) - Rudimental fundamentally captured the attention of their forest-dwelling fans.

The real highlight however came in the form of vocalist Ella Eyre who, despite her small frame, packed a vocal punch, evident from her performance of the band's current single Waiting All Night, in which she features.Watch out [uuid=f02b0b09-88c9-451a-a0fc-bf14840331c3]Rita Ora[/uuid], you've got some stiff competition headed your way!

Finally, with a nod to DJ Zinc's classic reworking of The Fugees' Ready Or Not, their euphoric No.1 hit Feel The Love closed the set leaving the ski-gear and fancy dress clad revellers aching for more...and with a sudden urge to learn the trumpet….
