Rupert Grint Reveals He Almost Quit The Harry Potter Films After Goblet Of Fire
Can you even imagine a world where someone else played Ron Weasley?
The world might have fallen in love with his portrayal of Ron Weasley, but the actor admits that there was a point when filming concluded on The Goblet Of Fire where he seriously thought about throwing the towel in.
"I had just finished my GCSEs," he told the Independent. "I thought, 'Do I actually want to keep doing this? It's a bit of a drag'.
"Because obviously, it's a big sacrifice. You take for granted anonymity, just doing normal stuff, just going out. Everything was different and a little bit scary. There were times when I was like, 'I'm done'."
He continued: “When I started, [acting] was never something that I aspired to do. I did acting with school plays and stuff like that. But it was never something that I actively dreamed of. I mean, I fell in love with it while I was doing it.”
Last year, Rupert opened up about not being able to enjoy the films in the same way everyone else does: "I think being in things ruins them for me," he said. "I can't enjoy Harry Potter any more, not as a fan – it's just not the same!"
Even though his part in the movies is now over, J.K Rowling’s universe continues to expand. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald is set to hit cinemas next month and tells the tale of Dumbledore’s connection with one of the most powerful and dangerous Dark Wizards of all time.
