S Club 7 singerJo O'Meara has addressed the heavy online criticism of her performance following the band’s big reunion on Children In Need last Friday (November 14).

"I listened to it back and it wasn’t great but, in my defense, I was terrified,"she admitted to BBC 5 Live, adding that coming back on such a big show after years of staying out of the public eye was nerve-wracking and "felt like someone had thrown a load of flour in my mouth".

[related]Jo continued her explanation declaring that despite the negative reaction, she’s glad she sang live: "I’d rather get criticized for doing a rubbish live vocal than a fantastic, mimed one."

The YouTube video of the band’s performance has already gathered over a million views and, while the comment section may at times look like a competition for the cleverest slam on the themes of singing, dancing and ageing, commenters who are fiercely defending their favourite childhood band DO exist.

Some are even throwing shade to rival 90s pop superbands and pointing out that, flawed as it was, S Club’s gig was still abetter comeback compared to the Spice Girls’ long-awaited one in 2007.

And what does O'Mearahave to say about the upcoming 11-date feat? "I’ll be singing much better (on the tour)", she concluded.
