Sam And Mark Top The Chart

'Pop Idol' finalists Sam And Mark have topped the UK singles chart with their debut effort.

The duo, who individually came second and third in the latest series of the talent quest, have ended LMC's two-week run atop the chart, claiming the number one position for themselves with a cover of the Beatles classic 'With A Little Help From My Friends'.

Ronan Keating claims the week's second highest entry at two with 'She Believes (In Me)', while Stereophonics' 'Moviestar' enters the chart at five.

Fatman Scoop completes the top ten new entries, crashing in at nine with 'It Takes Scoop'.

Outside the top ten, Ferry Corsten enters at 11 with 'Rock Your Body Rock', Speedway enter at 12 with 'Can't Turn Back', The Strokes hit the chart at 17 with 'Reptilia' and UD Project debut at 19 with 'Saturday Night'.

Jagged Edge make a return to the UK chart at 21 with 'Walked Outta Heaven', The Stands enter at 25 with 'Here She Comes Again', Poppyfields enter at 28 with '45 RPM', Chingy enters at 35 with 'Holidae In' and The Rapture enter at 38 with 'Love Is All'.

In the album chart, Norah Jones enters at the top with her new long-player 'Feels Like Home'.

The second highest new entry comes from new Scottish hot property Franz Ferdinand at three with their self-titled debut.

Emma Bunton also scores a top-ten new entry in the album stakes, landing at seven with her new 'Free Me' long-player, while Tears For Fears' hits collection enters the album chart at nine.
