Sam Bailey Heading For Christmas No 1 Single
Skyscraper towers over rivals in race for festive top spot...
Sam Baileyis heading for the Christmas No 1 spot in the Official UK Singles Chart with her debut record Skyscraper.
The winner of The X Factor has sold more than 45,000 copies since the track was released on iTunes on Sunday night.
And the physical CD is set to hit record shops tomorrow, following a very rushed release. It is claimed to be outselling Pharrell Williams' Happy by two-to-one.
Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot said: "Sam Bailey is out of the blocks and into a strong lead in the race to become this year's Official Christmas Number 1.
"But as we've seen time and time again, this is certainly not the week of the year to become complacent.
"With a host of acts snapping at Sam's heels, including Pharrell, Leona, and the growing AC/DC campaign, anything could still happen between now and Sunday's final whistle."
Leona Lewis' One More Sleep is currently at No 3 and AC/DC's Highway To Hell at No 4 following a social media campaign.
