The Hunger Games star Sam Claflin has labeled his co-star Jennifer Lawrence “her own sort of heroine”.

Speaking at Glamour’s Women Of The Year Awards on Tuesday night, which he attended with wife Laura Haddock, Sam also gave his views on anti-coup protestors in Thailand using The Hunger Games’ three-finger salute.

"I mean that's actually quite insane,” said Sam. “Not insane, it's incredible to be a part of something that is so powerful and does speak to millions.

“Katniss Everdeen is an inspiration to so many women. Jennifer Lawrence, at the forefront of that is equally her own sort of heroine.”

Sam plays Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and will also star in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay parts one and two, with the former set for release on November 21st.
