Sam Smith Almost Quit Music Before Making His "Sexy" Second Album
Can you imagine a life without 'Too Good At Goodbyes' now?
Sam Smith has revealed he almost quit music forever after a broken heart left him lost for words.
In a new Attitude interview with Sir Elton John (casual, right?), the singer shares that he struggled to write new music for two months while recording his new album after being dumped.
"There was a period, when making the record, that I was in a really bad place. I got dumped, which wasn’t very nice. Writing music about that kind of thing is normally like therapy for me, but [...] this time round I just couldn’t."
"My team had to force me to get into the studio, because I almost felt as if I didn’t want to do it any more," he said. "So, there were moments on there where it got a bit intense and I started to lose myself."
Well can we have a moment of praise for Sam's management? Thank goodness they didn't let him stop forever!
After two years of silence, the 'Stay With Me' singer returned last week with the brilliant new single 'Too Good At Goodbyes' and its expected to debut at number one tomorrow.
His anticipated second album is rumoured to be titled TPH-50HR, although the name and release date have not officially been announced yet.
Elsewhere in the Attitude interview, Sir Elton John describes the album as "warm and sexy" so that means it won't all be heartbreak! We cannot wait.
Last week Smith did reveal to Zane Lowe that the album will be out before Christmas, which is very exciting news!
We're glad to have you back, Sam!
