Sam Smith has put rumours to rest that he'll be following in Adele's golden footsteps and recording the next Bond theme song, saying it was all news to him.

"No, I have no idea what that was about and I know as much as you do. You probably know more than me; I didn't even read the article," he told NME.

Though he isn't recording a song for Bond right now, he did admit it's something he'd like to do one day.

"I think it's something everyone would love to do, but yeah, it was all news to me. I won't say any more on it," he added.

Sam went on to reveal his favourite Bond theme, which was for 2008's Quantum of Solace.

"My favourite Bond them was Jack White and Alicia Keys," he revealed. "I love that; I thought it was amazing. Her voice and his voice together, I thought, was really interesting."

The forthcoming bond film currently has the working title of Bond 24, and will star Daniel Craig in his fourth outing as 007.
