Sam Smith’s Twitter Rant Against Racism Has Actually Annoyed Quite A Few People

He's being accused of 'whitesplaining'.

Sam Smith had a bad night last night.

At around 3am, he posted a string of tweets, explaining how he’d just witnessed his friend being racially abused on a night out in London.

Clearly upset by the experience, Sam said he’d been left “absolutely speechless and hurt” and felt like he had “to shine some sort of light on it”.

However, the response to his heartfelt tweets hasn’t been totally positive. People have criticised him for “whitesplaining” racism, and making a big deal of being offended when the incident actually happened to his friend.

He’s also being called out for being so surprised that racist abuse and assaults are still happening, with Twitter users shaming his “white privilege”.

A few people have stood up for Sam, however, pointing out that he had good intentions, even if he didn’t go about things in the best way possible…
