Sampha Had Us Feeling All Loved Up After His Show At The Roundhouse London

A wonderful, soul cleansing evening that left us felling warm inside and full of love, thanks Sampha!

Last night (19th March) we were lucky enough to head down to Sampha’s opening night at The Roundhouse, London.

The wonderful PAULi opened and his soulful tones and strong energy made it the perfect introduction to the evening. The room was busy for PAULi’s set with the audience getting fully involved with their hands in the air. PAULi was clearly enjoying himself up on the stage and his moving silhouette against the mystic blue lights made his set both visually and acoustically an absolute delight.

For his final track ‘I Don’t Care’ (which you need to check out if you haven’t already heard it!) PAULi addressed the crowd, and after hyping us up for Sampha, he followed with ‘now I’m going to lose my mind for a minute’. The crowd lost their minds with him and it was an energetic finale to a great set, leaving PAULi a short time to recover before coming back on stage to play drums for Sampha - what a talented guy.

Sampha opened with 'Plastic 100' from his highly acclaimed 'Process' album and the moment his sultry tones melted down onto the audience we were all putty in his hands. Straight from this he moved into a personal favourite of MTV's, the beautiful hug of a song 'Timmy’s Prayer'. Sampha’s outline could be seen against a dreamy backdrop which represented an ever changing sunset going from orange to red into a beautiful purple. Moving from centre stage over to the side to play the piano there was a stillness in the room as Sampha took us back to 2013 with his timeless tracks 'Happens' and 'Too Much'.

Slightly stepping up the tempo, there was a magical feeling in the air for'Beneath the Tree' with a mesmerising kaleidoscope of lights flittering over the roof of the Roundhouse. Sampha drew the crowd in for beautiful soulful renditions of 'Take Me Inside' and 'Incomplete Kisses', before he gently stirred everyone back into action with 'Kora Sings'. Fittingly, the lights turned red and the crowd cheered as Sampha broke into 'Blood On Me' before moving into another crowd favourite, 'No One Knows Me'. Sampha wasn’t done with us yet, as he rounded things off with 'Without' and a silky-sounding 'Indecision',two tracks from his EP, 'Dual,'before sending us on our way.
