Samuel L. Jackson Fights Zombie Smartphone Users In New 'Cell' Horror Movie Trailer!
John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson take on a horde of people turned into murderous zombies by their phones in this new horror movie.
What if everyone using a mobile phone was suddenly, inexplicably infected by a mysterious “pulse” that transformed them into a murderous, zombie-like nutcase? That’s the premise of Cell, a new Stephen King adaptation in which John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson find themselves fighting for their lives against hordes of blood-thirsty “phoners”.
The first trailer lays out the basic premise, which basically feels like a phone-based riff on the standard zombie set-up. That said, it manages to pack in some classic King-approved scares along the way, including an ultra-creepy moment with Cusack’s missing son…
Check out the new trailer, below…
The original novel isn’t one of King’s absolute best, but there still promises to be plenty of horde-based mayhem to look forward to here, while we’re never going to say no to Sam Jackson playing a gun-toting, lets-all-march-into-the-apocalypse-together badass.
Alongside Jackson and Cusack (who also starred together in previous King adaptation 1408) will be Isabelle Fuhrman as a fellow survivor and Stacey Keach as a gruff military type who seems to have a grudging respect for “the next stage of evolution”. Directed by Paranormal Activity 2 graduate Tod Williams, Cell will open in the US on July 8 2016, with a UK date to be confirmed.
