Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Taking A Power Stance On Buffy Comeback
The actress seems firm on the likelihood of a reunion...
It’s been 12 years since Buffy The Vampire Slayer ended but stake-wielding, leather trouser-wearing vixen Sarah Michelle Geller is still fielding questions about a potential reunion.
As lithe as she still may look, SMG has brushed off questions about the Scooby Gang returning for a reunion of sorts.
She did, however, claim that the original cast meet up - just “not on camera”, leaving us with a beautiful image of Anthony Head softly lecturing the guy who plays Xander (Nicholas Brendan) just as he did in 1997.
Her reasoning for not wanting to return is decent too - considering the series was born out of a failed movie (remember the 1992 BTVS film? No? Us neither.) SMG calls out the absurdity of trying again.
"People forget, Buffy was a failed movie," she explained to the Press Association.
"Buffy didn't work as a movie; it worked as a long-arc television show where you could follow this journey. We spent all of our first year going, 'Yes, we know we’re based on a failed movie, but we’re different.' And so it just seems counter-productive to go back. It didn't work the first time."
Never cross a slayer, we guess.
