As we previously reported, Christopher Chaney has been arrested in connection with the alleged offence, which resulted in topless snaps of Scar-Jo leaking online last month.
Speaking to a Florida news station about his actions, Chaney revealed: "It started as a curiosity. It happened and snowballed. I didn't know how to stop doing it."
The 35-year old, who is alleged to have hacked personal information from Mila Kunis, Christina Aguilera and various other A-List names, then went on to apologise to his victims, stating he regrets invading their privacy.
He said: "I deeply apologise. I know what I did was probably one of the worst invasions of privacy someone could experience."
Christopher added: "These people don't have privacy to begin with, and I was in that tiny little sliver of privacy they do have."
Johansson previously addressed the naked picture leak, claiming that it felt "unjust" and "wrong."
Chaney faces 26 counts of computer hacking, as well as aggravated identity theft and wiretapping. If convicted, he faces up to 121 years in federal jail.
