Scarlett Johansson: 'Porn Can Be Liberating'

And Scar-Jo says her new movie is about consumerism more than smut...

Scarlett Johanssonhas declared that she believes pornography can be sexually liberating.
But the movie star, who appears as the girlfriend of a porn addict in new movie Don Jon, also said she realises it can be degrading.
Speaking in an interview with Refinery 29, she said: "In the film it is the element that destroys the relationship. Pornography can be degrading or can be sexually liberating, if you know how to use it and it is made from an artistic point of view.
"But Don Jon is not a film about pornography, it is a social criticism against consumerism."
Scar-Jo appears as Barbara in the movie, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt both directing and playing the male lead.
She continued: "I loved the sweetness of Barbara. Like her, I grew up with young people like them, well-educated, perfect.
"They are a very determined group of New Jerseyites. In fact, I refer to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, actor and director of the film, helping to shape the character."
Don Jon opens in the UK on 15 November.
