The Scissor Sisters' Christmas Cheer
Jake Shears and his crew of disco dancing barbers cut Glasgow's homeless community some slack this Christmas by donating 1,300 to a charity that brings soup, sandwiches and comfort to the permanent residents of the city's streets.
A spokesperson for The Simon Centre in Glasgow told NME: "Obviously we were over the moon that such a big band were using their influence to raise money. It will be enough to run our soup kitchen for a month."
The gift was part of a larger sack of Christmas loot that the Sisters gave to charities across the UK. The money was raised by charging VIP guests 15 for a ticket to The Sisters' exclusive gigs, and totalled more than 24,000.
Well done guys - maybe a few more would be 'heal the world' rock groups could follow suit and put their money where their mouths are...
