This is not a drill. Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have just shared loving words on social media. Sorry I think we need to repeat that. SELENA GOMEZ AND DEMI LOVATO HAVE JUST SHARED LOVING WORDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

Yes - Demi took to Twitter on Fridayto compliment Selena's new single'Fetish' completely out of the blue. She also used the Tweet as an opportunity to reflect on the pair's Barney days and how much the two of them have grown since then.

No we're not crying, you are.

Not only that butSelena actually returned the favour. She evenwrote: 'You slay as always'.

How beautiful is this? Our small hearts just grew three sizes.

In honour of this momentous occasion, we decided to revist Demena's/Selemi's15 year long history.

1) Barney & Friends

Selena and Demi were always destined to be starsit seems. Back in 2002 the two young talents auditioned for and landed starring roles in Barney & Friends. They were both seven at the time and shared a lot of screen time as Gianna and Angela respectively. Rumour has it that the two of them became instant friends, often seeing each other off set as well as on.

2) Vlogs

Fast forward to 2008 and both girls had scored huge Disney roles. Selena was the main characterin Wizards of Waverly Place and Demi had joined the Jonas Brothers as a leadin 'Camp Rock'. Closer friends than ever, the two young superstars began their own vlog series in which they answered fan questions and showed off what unbelievably cute BFFs they both were.

3) 2008 Teen Choice Awards

Neither went home with any awards that night but Demi and Selena's friendship was the talk of that year's ceremony.

4) Princess Protection Programme

Keen to capitalise on this budding friendship, Disney cast both Demi and Selena as two the leads of their 2009 original movie: 'Princess Protection Programme'. Demi starred as PrincessRosalinda María Montoya Fiore, a princess who, after her country was invaded by an evil Dictator, was forced to go into hiding as a normal American teenager. Naturally, she goes to live with Carter Mason, played by Selena, and the two of them start as rivals before going onto form a beautiful friendship. The film caused much controversy over being snubbed at the 2010 Academy Awards. Perhaps it was just ahead of its time.

5) One and the Same

Of course Demi and Selena wouldn't star in a film together and not record an amazing song for its soundtrack.

6) Ask Taylor

Fast forward to 2010 though and Demi and Selena were starting to grow apart. In fact, Selena was becomingclose friends with Taylor Swift and it appears as though Demi felt cast aside. When asked by papparazi 'How's Selena', the Camp Rock star simply responded: 'Ask Taylor!' and in two short seconds our Selemi/Demena friendship fantasies were crushed. To add salt to the wound Demi said this in a 2010 interview with Girls Life magazine:“We’re both busy, and I wish the best for her. True friends don’t let their friends or family be mean to you. If you can’t trust somebody, you can’t be friends with them.”

7) Rehab

Luckily things soon returned to normal. After admitting herself to rehab at the end of 2010 for struggling with an eating disorder and drugs and alcohol abuse, Demi revealed that Selena had been there for her. When asked who'd supported her she said: “Nick [Jonas] especially — he’s always been there for me. And Selena because she called me crying when I was in there and was just so worried. I was like, ‘Look, I should be the one crying, it’s all good!’ But she was so worried and ever since then we’ve gotten closer.” Both Selena and Demi have checked themselves into rehab during their careers and together they'vehelped dismantle the stigma that surrounds admitting yourself to rehab and actually seeking help for your mental health.

By the time that Demi had left rehab, the two were thick as thieves again.

9) 2012 Teen Choice Awards

However, just one year later the two stars appeard to avoideach other at the ceremony and fans caught on to it. They even went to separate events after the awards show. Maybe Selena's new kind of famous boyfriend had gotten between them?

10) Twitter, Pt. I

One year on, however, and both stars had put any former beef or differences behind them. The two stars took to Twitter to compliment each other's hit singles 'Heart Attack' and 'Come & Get It'. And who can blame them? They're11/10 songs.

11) Instagram, Pt. I

After Selena performed 'Slow Down' on the X Factor USA in 2013, the two friends caught up backstage. What's more, Demi talked in depth about their friendship with MTV Live, the ups and downs and everything in between. “We’ve been through a lot together, we’ve had periods of times we here we grew apart and we just didn’t really talk. Now we are in a place where I think we realized that life is so short and that when you have people in your life that love you so much then, you should just always be around them. She’s going to be a big sister, and I want to be around for that. Everything about her, she has a great soul, she’s talented, she’s beautiful, and she will always be really, really close to my heart.” Yes - we'resobbing right now too!

12) Instagram, Pt. II

However, just one year later Demi unfollowed Selena on Instagram.Not only that but she tweeted "swimming away from your bulls*** by bitch" before quickly deleting it and when asked about the incident on Watch What Happens Live, the 'Skyscraper' singer said: "I think it's just one of those things where people change and people grow apart." No. Not again. WHY GOD?!

13) Twitter, Pt. II

One year on and not only did Demi refollow Selena on Instagrambut the stars also tweeted each other and all was good again.

14) Instagram, Pt. III

The stars then posted this adorable photo on Instagram and Selena said this about Demi in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: "I love her, she's like family at this point." OMG - that's more like it girls. We can't deal with the cuteness of it all!

15) Twitter, Pt. III

However, things went silent after that and fans began to speculate that they were no longer friends. Not to mention Demi made public jabs at Taylor Swift and Selena stayed silent through it all. Nevertheless, it seems as though thethe childhood pals have once and for all put any drama behindthem and reunited over their love of each other's music. Here's hoping that these two become close again and a follow-up to 'One and the Same' is in the works! Imagine what song they couldrecord now!
