Selena Gomez has opened up about her recent disappearance from the spotlight, and what she's really been going through in the run up to the release of her new album, 'Revival'.

While gossip sites and newspapers alike were reporting that SelGo had checked into rehab struggling with addiction,she was actually undergoing lifesaving chemotherapy treatment.

"I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke," the singer explained to Billboard.

"I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re assholes.’ I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again."

She also added that her new record has nothing to do with Justin Bieber, as she reiterates he's not getting any credit.

"No. This is my time,” she said. “I’ve deserved this. I earned it. This is all me."

Selena's 'Revival' is set to drop on October 9.
