Selena Gomez's Mum Says Quitting Social Media Helped The Start Get Her Glow Back
Mandy Teefay is one wise mother
Selena Gomez’s mum says the singer, actress and producer has got her mojo back thanks to a self imposed social media ban.
The 24-year-old pop babe had a difficult 2016 which saw her cancel tour dates after being struck with crippling anxiety and checking into rehab.
But the star’s mum Mandy Teefay says quitting social media helped Selena (the most followed person in the world on Instagram) regain her priorities in the past year.
“When she was becoming famous, I was like, ‘Aren’t you so shocked?’ It’s not an arrogant thing, it’s just your day to day, and that’s what becomes your life,” Mandy explained to Cosmopolitain at the premiere of new Netflix 13 Reasons Why – which she and Selena produced.
“Then when you go home, or [when I] go to my husband’s home in the Midwest, you’re like, ‘This isn’t really real.’ That ‘all of this about me’ and, you know, this lifestyle isn’t real,” she said.
Mandy said that Selena seems happier since taking a break from trending topics and scrolling through images.
“I think it was actually [from] taking a break. You asked what it is [like] to feel like you’re in this world, we’re in a bubble. It’s not a real world. You don’t really realize it until you go out of this bubble and you’re like, ‘Oh, OK,’” she explained.
We're glad Selena is back to her best!
