Shakira Signs Up For World Cup Anthem
FIFA announce their song for South Africa…
Shakira is set to sing the official world cup anthem for 2010.
FIFA has announced that the Colombian star has recorded a new song called Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) that will soundtrack the tournament.
The track also features group Freshlyground- who are from the host nation South Africa.
Shakira said in a statement: “I am honoured that Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) was chosen to be part of the excitement and the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
“African music is so inspiring and is poised to take its place on the global pop culture stage.”
The She Wolf singer will fly out to Johannesburg, South Africa to perform the track at the opening and closing ceremony and it will also feature on the soundtrack to the tournament, entitled Listen Up! The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album.
