Sharon Osbourne Has Double Mastectomy
Sharon Osbourne has revealed she has had both her breasts removed in a bid to avoid cancer.
The former X Factor judge had the double mastectomy after finding out she has the gene which increases the risk of breast cancer.
Osbourne told Hello! magazine: "As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought, 'The odds are not in my favour'.
"I've had cancer before and didn't want to live under that cloud. I decided to take everything off and had a double mastectomy. For me, it was a no-brainer."
Sharon - who successfully beat colon cancer in 2002 - went on to say she doesn't want people to feel sorry for her after having the operation, insisting that having the mastectomy was "a decision I made that's got rid of this weight that I was carrying around".
She explained that the arrival of son Jack's daughter Pearl earlier this year played a part in her decision, adding: "I want to be around a long time and be a grandmother to Pearl.
"I didn't even think of my breasts in a nostalgic way, I just wanted to live without that fear."
