You would be forgiven if you've ever found yourself blaring 'Mercy' as you sob alone in your room following a breakup (surely it's not just us).

Still, the mastermind behind the track that perfectly sums up the perils of heartbreak has revealed he has never actually experienced a broken heart. Sorry what, Shawn Mendes?

The lyrical wizard revealed that he's never had a particularly painful breakup. YouTuber Fernanda Catania interviewed Shawn for her channel, Foquinha,and she asked him if he had ever suffered for love.

"I have mildly, not as much as I've made it sound like," he revealed.

That boy has one blinding imagination, since he revealed that he doesn't think he's had his heart broken but he might just need it to happenfor the next album.

"I can't wait for it to happen because I'll probably get some good songs out of it," he explained.

If he was able to write Mercy and Stitcheswithout going through all that pain - just imagine what he could come out with if he experienced the real deal. We're not sure our delicate hearts could take it tbh.

In all seriousness,if Shawn's never actually had to beg for mercy on his heart, we're starting to wonder what else he's hiding.
