MTV Review: Shawn Mendes Steals Our Hearts At London Show

We're so in love...

Here at MTV we're pretty big Shawn Mendes fans so OBVIOUSLY we took the opportunity to see him at the first of his two London shows.

We didn't think we could be any more in love with the adorable 17-year-old pop star but after last night's show (Thursday 5th May) he officially stole our hearts along with everyone else's in the audience.

Last time Shawn same over to London he played to a smaller crowd at the Shepherds Bush Empire. This time, with a band and amazing graphics and backing tracks, his show felt a whole lot more epic.

Back then it was just Shawn and his guitar and inevitably as an artist grows so does the set-up of their live performance. Songs that we're used to being stripped back and more acoustic-y were transformed into venue-filling anthems.

He played favourites such as 'Aftertaste', 'Three Empty Words' and, of course, ended on his biggest song to date, the amazing 'Stitches'.

One thing about Shawn Mendes is that his fan-base are really dedicated, obsessively so - they're absolutely bonkers but in the best way possible.

What strikes me is that they all feed off Shawn's positive messages. There wasn't an ounce of animosity at this gig and with his in-between-songs motivational speeches, encouraging these kids to follow their dreams, he's shaping up to a really powerful role model for teenagers today.

Shawn is adorable, yes, but his live show is way more than that. With the added extras that come with playing bigger venues this kid will be performing in stadiums in no time at all. Watch this space.
