Leftfield Artists For New Shelter Album
A whole host of alternative acts appear on 'Music For A Good Home 2'…
Some of the biggest names in leftfield and alternative music, including Four Tet, Wire, Ridehave donated new and exclusive material to a new album called Shelter.
The album, which also features Karma To Burn and Fujiya & Miyagi on its 40-strong tracklisting, was produced to mark the twelfth anniversary of Shelter fundraising festival Audioscope, and features bands who have performed at the event or supported Audioscope since it began in 2001.
The album, released via www.musicforagoodhome.com and http://audioscope.bandcamp.com on 1 October, is available for a minimum donation of £5 to Shelter.
Four Tet's track, titled Audioscope, was written especially for the release and named after the Audioscope festival, while the other artists have provided brand new and exclusive tracks to support Shelter.
The album takes in everything from acclaimed electronica from Planet Mu's Boxcutter, Ninja Tune's Deco Child and Anticon's SJ Esau, through to the delicate songcraft of Richard Walters, Phil McMinn and Kranky Records' Felix.
There's also the uncompromising noise of Karma To Burn, Kogumaza and Mugstar alongside the experimental krautrock aesthetic of the likes of Beak>, The Telescopes, Warm Digits, Magnetophone and Spectrum, featuring Spacemen 3 legend Sonic Boom.
As well as internationally-renowned artists, the album also celebrates the very best of Oxfordshire's music scene, with exclusive material from Ride, Gunning For Tamar, Message To Bears, Listing Ships, The Half Rabbits, The Rock of Travolta, Phil McMinn, Flights of Helios, Coloureds, The Cellar Family and Kill Murray.
This year's Audioscope festival takes place on Saturday 10 November at the Jericho, and features Can legend Damo Suzuki, Message To Bears, Warm Digits, Listing Ships, Gunning For Tamar, Alright The Captain, Baltic Fleet, Dethscalator, Laura Moody from the Elysian Quartet and more bands TBC.
The first Music For A Good Home album, released in 2009 on CD and as a download, featured exclusive tracks from Michael Rother (Neu!), Blood Red Shoes, Clinic, Damo Suzuki (Can) and Mercury Prize nominee Maps.
