Shenmue 3 has been delayed again.

"Deep Silver today announce that their upcoming release Shenmue III has been moved and will now release in 2019," the publisher said in a recent statement.

"The extra time will be used to polish the quality of the game even further, to the high standards it deserves and release the product in the best possible timeframe."

Shenmue is an action-adventure game created, produced and directed by Yu Suzuki, and once held the record for the most expensive game ever made. The long-anticipated follow-up, Shenmue 3, was due to release later this year following a highly successful Kickstarter campaign. Now, however, the release - which had originally been anticipated for December 2017 - has slipped until sometime in 2019.

Last month, Sega confirmed that 1999's classic Shenmue is finally getting remastered, with both the original game and its sequel releasing together later this year.

"You've asked, we listened and we're extremely excited to finally announce that Shenmue I & II are coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in one package!" Sega saidvia a tweet at the time. "Both games will feature Japanese and English voice overs, the choice of classic or modern controls and more! #ShenmueSaved"
