Shoot Nations 2010 Winner Announced

Emily Rycroft’s picture will be shown in NYC

The theme for the 2010 Shoot Nations photography competition was City Living.
Winner Emily was inspired by her teenage friends: ‘I'm not a generic teenager and if you saw one down the street you would plainly see their underwear showing and an adult would probably make a comment about it. So it really inspired me to show how teenagers in the city know exactly who they want to be and are not afraid to show their true self.I live in a small town in the North East of England so I just went down to the town centre to give a "city-like" background.’
Emily’s pictures was voted by mtv.co.uk visitors last week – check out the rest of the entries – and she was more than happy when she learned her photo was chosen as the best: ‘When I had learnt that I had won a category I was lost for words, I had to read the email several times for it to even enter my mind that I had won. I instantly rang my parents and I was crying with happiness, then I told the whole of Facebook and my friends were all shocked and ecstatic for me.’
Emily will be travelling to NYC next week to show her picture at the UN secretarial building to celebrate International Youth Day.
