Would Showtek Remix Bieber Or 1D? ‘Why Not?’

EXCLUSIVE! Dutch dance duo talk 'Booyah' and reveal their love for pop...

Dutch DJ duo Showtek have revealed they’d definitely take on a Justin Bieber or One Direction remix “if the song is good.”

Showtek – AKA Sjoerd and Wouter Janssen - told MTV News UK: “Why not? If the song fits us. F**k genre or whatever you call it. If some fans would hate us for it, they are really narrowed minded. If the song is too commercial ‘in a bad way’ we probably won’t do it but if the song is good, why not?
“We produce music ‘cause we love it and it's very good for your mind to work on other music once in a while. It makes you focused and you put yourself in for a test. Making a cool club track is easy, making hits is f**king difficult and by trying out new things you keep yourself fresh!”
The brothers’ latest release Booyah has garnered support from the likes of Pete Tong and Zane Lowe which came as quite a surprise for the pair:
“Well to be honest that came really out of the blue. We knew that [uuid=102621ed-7598-4e87-bac9-a0fba04ef026]Calvin Harris[/uuid] and [uuid=79eed549-ef88-4fa4-bb39-494217daee2a]David Guetta[/uuid] were supporting it from the start but it didn't take long before Zane Lowe was on the phone, interviewing us for BBC Radio 1, even when the song wasn't released yet.

“Think it was Guetta playing it and Pete Tong asked for this song, so that might be the connection. Nevertheless, it's amazing because those guys make the hype around the song even bigger! This is the best feedback we had so far on our productions!”
But aside from their own material at the moment we asked what else the duo were into at the moment:
“The new song of James Blunt! That’s what we love too, pop music! We really love pop, we think it will be another influence in our upcoming songs. Like the Swedes did, we love that. We don't want to stick to one sound or genre, diversity is very important!”
Booyah is out now on Beatport.
