Simon Cowell has apparently rushed back to New York after pregnant girlfriend Lauren Silverman is said to have showed signs of having their baby two weeks early.

The music mogul left London for the Big Apple this morning (February 14), with The Sun reporting he was told Lauren could be going into labour, despite their son not being due until February 28.

A close pal of SiCo's told the tabloid: "The baby is on its way. Simon was in complete shock, it's not often he loses his cool but this was one of those occasions.

"They both thought they had another two weeks to prepare for the arrival or another week at least.

"There was no question of staying here. Even though he doesn't want to see the birth, there is no way he wouldn't be by Lauren's side. She's had a difficult pregnancy so her health is his priority first and foremost."

Cowell was due to appear at the Britain's Got Talent auditions in Hammersmith today, with the source adding: "He didn't even have time to tell the other judges or Ant and Dec. It's going to be announced to them at 2.30pm."

The 54-year old's ex-girlfriend Sinitta also seemed to fuel the speculation with a cryptic tweet, writing: "If you think today is special... You are Right! Probably one of the most memorable days of 2014 already! Happy Valentines Day Baby! Xxx."
