Simon Cowell Denies Retirement Rumours

And Cher Lloyd does a runner...

Simon Cowellhas quashed rumours he’s planning to quit The X Factor in favour of the American version.

The music mogul said he’s having the most fun he’s had and will continue to sit on the UK judging panel as long as there are good singers left. "I love the job and I'll never retire.

“When you do these shows your biggest fear is you won't find what you want,” Simon said. “That's the point. The people I'm watching week by week are talented and every time I think I can't find anything else, they come through again into an audition.

The record label boss said he feels that this series is the best yet, thanks to the calibre of finalists. “It feels like this year the contestants are competing to have a hit record and they have so much more to say. You can't just be a good singer nowadays,” he explained, addinghe’s already pinpointed several acts who he thinks could sign lucrative record deals.

Cher Lloyd is thought to be one of Simon’s favourites, but that has reportedly led to tensions in the X Factor house, which came to a head this week.

Following a bust-up with her housemates, the fragile 17-year-old fled the house on Wednesday to make the 140-mile trip home to Worcestershire to visit her mum.

An insider told the News of the World: “The housemates turned on Cher this week and it wasn't pretty. They think she's become too arrogant and big for her boots over the last couple of weeks… She had to get away from them and go and see her family. The producers are aware of it and they know how vulnerable she can still be at times.”

Thankfully, producers made sure she returned the next day to continue rehearsals.
