Simon Cowell Launches New Talent Show, 'Ultimate DJ'
The X Factor impresario is back with a new music show...
Simon Cowell has bounced back from the premature closure of I Can’t Sing!, his X Factor-themed musical, with a new talent show, Ultimate DJ.
The online-only, US-based competition will revolve around electronic music culture in the hopes of finding a fresh new DJ/producer talent.
Contestants will face producer challenges followed by live performances while fans can vote for their favourite acts via social media.
The show has been developed by SyCo, the Cowell-owned production company behind The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, together with T-Mobile and live events producer SFX.
Cowell said of the joint venture: “We have been developing this concept for a while but our partnership with SFX has been a real game-changer for this format. It made complete sense for us to collaborate with SFX with their access to the best up-and-coming DJs and their great marketing platform to build new DJ talent. And I’m delighted to have T-Mobile on board with their brilliant vision and innovation.”
No details have yet been released about when Ultimate DJ will kick off - or whether Simon will be on the judging panel - but it promises to be a busy year for the music impresario. As well as becoming a first-time father, Cowell has announced he is returning to The X Factor UK alongside sparring partner Cheryl Cole.
