Simon Cowell On Strictly, X Factor Ratings Battle: 'Round One To Them'

The music mogul has declared round one goes to the dancers as the two hit TV shows went head-to-head for the first time last night...

Simon Cowell has crowned Strictly Come Dancing the winners of the first round of the ratings battle, after The X Factor went up against the show on Sunday (September 7).

The dancing contest aired it's launch show last night, while the X Factor continued with it's first round of auditions, but it seems the public wanted to see some of our fave celebs in sparkly shirts more.

"So the numbers are in. Strictly peak 9.4. X Factor peak 9.2. Round one to them.Such a shame they were both on at the same time!"Cowell said on Twitter.

Though this is not a new television battle, with the claws coming out every year when both shows air at the same time.

[related]Just last month Cowell hit out at his rivals for scheduling their show so it purposefully clashed with his.

"I always think that when people do that, the people, they are p**sing off are the viewers. They say that this isn't a ratings battle - it is. That's why they did it," he explained at The X Factor launch.

He went on to add: "But it just shows, as far as I'm concerned - this is personally speaking - the producers of the show for what they are.

"They don't want this show to do well, they don't want people to watch it, and our job is to do the best show we can so people prefer The X Factor to them. Miaow!"
