Sinead O'Connor: 'Drugs Behind Marriage Split'
Singer reveals her wedding night hunt for dope scared new hubby...
Sinead O'Connor has revealed that her desperation to score drugs on the night of her wedding to Barry Herridge was the first nail in the coffin of their 16-day marriage.
And speaking to The Sun, the 45-year-old singer has actually compared the brief union to "living in a coffin".
She said: "It felt like I was living in a coffin. It was going to be a coffin for both of us and I saw him crushed. The whole reason I ended it was out of respect and love for the man."
Doing nothing to dispel her dotty image, she also explained that she terrified her 38-year-old husband by taking him off in search of drugs on their wedding night in Las Vegas.
She said: "We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous. I wasn't scared — but he's a drugs counsellor. What was I thinking?
"Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened — that kind of messed everything up a bit really."
Sinead insists that she was only trying to buy cannabis though.
And she now reckons she won't marry again, saying: "I don't think I will even date anyone."
That might be for the best, at least for a little while.
