Sinéad O'Connor Ends Marriage After 16 Days
Irish singer parts company with fourth hubby on Christmas Eve...
If you thought Kim Kardashian was quick to end her marriage, spare a thought for Sinéad O'Connor. The Irish singer has split from her fourth husband, Barry Herridge, after just 16 days of wedded bliss.
The 45-year-old singer announced the news on her official website revealing that she and Herridge had parted company on Christmas Eve.
O'Connor claimed her new hubby was put under "intense pressure" by people in his life who had "formed opinions" based on the media view of herself.
She wrote: "Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband's life. And also by a bit of a wild ride I took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don't drink.
"My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage."
Sinéad, who also revealed that the happy couple had only lived together as man and wife for a total of seven days, suggested that her concerns over how Herridge would be affected were at the root of her decision, and used the old adage: "U love someone? Set them free."
Confessing that she still loved her hubby "very much", O'Connor explained: "He has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage. I think he is too nice to do so. And too nice to trap."
The pair met three months ago and were married at The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on December 8.
