Skepta Scores First Top 10 Album As Radiohead Claim Their Sixth UK No.1
Plus Drake holds onto ANOTHER week at the top of the Official UK Singles Chart...
Skepta has just scored a chart personal best with his fourth studio album Konnichiwa smashing in at No.2 on the Official UK Albums Chart, just missing out on the top spot after Radiohead entered at No.1 with A Moon Shaped Pool, securing their sixth UK No.1 album, after just five days on sale.
Konnichiwa is the much-anticipated follow up to the London MC's last album Doin' It Again, which was released five years ago and, after shutting it down up and down the country on his mini UK this week, this chart position proves he's on top of his game.
In a recent interview with BBC 1Xtra's Semtex, Skepta spoke of his bond with Drake (who's Views falls to No.4 this week) saying: “I can’t tell how he heard of me. I will never know, but I’ll put my money on him finding me online and searching for my music because that’s what he’s like – he’s a music lover.
"For me, it was a blessing that he was co-signing me and bigging me up, because I’m still gonna do what I’m gonna do anyway," he continued. "I’m just blessed to have them man supporting. My album came out on the 6th when I was in Toronto and it’s like home. The way they’ve got me out there is mad.”
