Skyrim Wins Game Of The Year Award
Mammoth role-playing game Skyrim has been named the Ultimate Game Of The Year at the Golden Joystick Awards.
Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim also scored the best RPG award at the UK games industry's most prestigious awards ceremony on Friday.
It beat big titles such as Modern Warfare 3, Diablo 3 and Mass Effect 3 for the top gong - and took the Top Gaming Moment award as well for its "Throat Of The World" sequence.
EA Sports and FIFA won the Outstanding Contribution award in recognition of the long-running soccer simulation's continued success.
And Batman: Arkham City won the Best Action/Adventure award, while Battlefield 3 took the Best Shooter prize.
Stephen Fry made a special "appearance", when a robot version of the TV personality handed out the award for Best Handheld Game to Uncharted: Golden Abyss - with the real Fry providing the voice from home.
