Jesse Lawson Reveals Why He REALLY Left Sleeping With Sirens
Ex-SWS member tells all two years after his departure from the band...
Almost exactly two years ago, guitarist Jesse Lawson announced his sudden, midway-through-a-tour departure from Sleeping With Sirens with a post on the band’s social media accounts, stating there were “no hard feelings and no hate” behind his decision to leave. He has now finally revealed exactly why he quit the band in a very honest interview on the BadChristian podcast.
While former SWS fan-favourite Jesse still maintains that he wishes nothing but the best for his bandmates, he does admit that the intense attention focused on lead singer Kellin Quinn was difficult to cope with, especially as his relationship with the band broke down.

“When I started to kinda get pushed away [and had] a bad taste in my mouth with the band, it was just so much like… the Kellin show,” he said. “And that’s nothing that he did on purpose; that’s nothing that he could choose, that’s just how it went.”
Along with disagreements with the SWS guys, Jesse explains how he just wasn’t enjoying being part of the band before his departure.
My heart just … wasn’t in it anymore,” he said. “It’s so weird because you have all these other bands who are like, ‘You’re crazy. You play these huge shows. You would be insane to not stick that out.’ But the thing was, my heart just stopped vibing with it; the music at times, the lifestyle at times, the people at times.
“And that’s not saying the Sirens guys were assholes or anything. I mean, I’d be lying if I said that we didn’t get in fights. Any band who says they don’t get in fights are lying—you do get in fights. You’re brothers, essentially, and you’re around those people all the time. So it wasn’t necessarily that, I just stopped… believing in it.”
Aww! Sad times. It’s all ok now, because Jesse is making music as a solo artist and is a dad to a young daughter (who was born just after he left SWS). ‘Sirens are currently out on the Back To The Future Hearts tour with All Time Low, and have not commented on Jesse’s interview.
