According to eyewitnesses who spoke to NBC10 Philadelphia, Snoop and Wiz had moved onto a second stage and told the crowd to ‘stand up’ when a ‘large section’ of the railing gave way, sending ‘dozens of people’ falling onto the concrete below.
The railing is said to separate the lawn from a portion of the hall in the venue’s centre, with the lawn several feet above a concrete walkway.
The exact number of injuries are not known, with an eyewitness claiming to have seen medics taking three people with a further 20 ‘limping’ away, while a spokesman for Camden County Metro Police said around 10 to 15 people were injured. Other reports claimed that 42 people had been taken to hospital with ‘minor injuries’, though this was not confirmed.
The concert was stopped when the accident happened, with witnesses saying announcers told fans to keep calm and that the concert would shortly resume. However, organisers later cancelled the show and cleared the venue.
We hope everyone involved is okay.
