Drummer Covers Sonic The Hedgehog & It's Genius
Green Hill Zone memories flooding back in 3..2...1...
Sonic the Hedgehog immediately brings the spikey blue main character to mind, right? But the classic game wasn't all about visuals as one drummer has shown off by covering the iconic music.
Andrew Fleming, the drummer who covered Destiny last year, is back to celebrate Sonic's 25th anniversary in style. He's covered Sonic's Green Hill Zone level to perfection.
While the drumming follows the original song nearly exactly, there are plenty of chances to inject originality. Some brilliant, creative drum rolls are added to give the song a more metal edge.
Of course the original was on a 16-bit console so cramming in sound above the basics wasn't possible. Which says a lot for how creative the game makers were, managing to still create catchy music that works even today.
The latest Sonic game, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, will arrive on Nintendo 3DS on 27 September.
For more Fleming drumming keep your eyes peeled on his channel as there's a new video due for Final Fantasy soon.
