Zendaya Is Playing An Iconic Spider-Man Character In Homecoming

This is gonna be GOOD.

After months of speculation, it's looking increasingly likely that Zendaya is going to play iconic Spider-Man characterMaryJane Watson in the forthcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Which is a bit of a big deal, what with that character being Peter Parker's love interest and one of the most beloved characters in comic history.

At this year's Comic-Con, Zendaya and Homecoming director Jon Watts said that her character was called Michelle. Pretty much everyone thought they were bluffing. The Wrap now reports that multiple sources on the production have confirmed to them that Zendaya is indeed playing Mary Jane Watson, and that the twist is revealed towards the end of the film, when her character invites Peter Parker to call her 'MJ'.

The character of Mary Jane, previously played by Kirsten Dunst in the first Spider-Man trilogy, is traditionally caucasian with fiery red hair, so it's a casting twist on the comic version, but we are so, SO on board.

We heart Zendaya TBH. So to all you haters out there...
