Ashley Graham has made history by appearing in Sports Illustrated’s latest Swimsuit Issue, becoming the first plus-size model to do so – but she features in an advert rather than the editorial pages.

The Swimsuits For All ad will debut in the new issue of SI, out February 9th, and was shot by Russell James.

Flanked by the hashtag ‘#CurvesInBikinis’, Ashley is pictured flipping her long dark hair in a tiny black bikini and heeled sandals, while a male admirer falls into a swimming pool because he’s so busy checking her out.

While Sports Illustrated has been applauded for featuring the 26-year-old, we reckon it would have been more revolutionary if say Ashley had bagged the cover spot, or even a shoot inside the magazine with the likes of Chrissy Teigen, Emily Ratajkowski and Lily Aldridge.

Nonetheless, Ashley seems pretty delighted with her coup, taking to Instagram to share her happiness.

“Secret's out!! So honored to be the face of #CurvesInBikinis for @swimsuitsforall! Can't wait for the ad's debut in the @SI_Swimsuit issue!” she wrote.

Ashley also appears in a campaign video for Swimsuits For All, while this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl has been unveiled as model Hannah Davis.
