Facebook Are (Kind Of) Freeing The Nipple

The site are having a crack down on boobs, bums and ‘revenge porn’...

Are Facebook’s new laws on nudity two steps forward and one step back? Zuckerberg and friends have implemented some new rules that might imply so.

[related]Photos of bare bums and “female breasts if they include the nipple” have been explicitly banned, meaning that those buttock-out photos of your lad’s trip to Malia might end up getting axed.

#freethenipple campaigners might well have something to say about this new ‘girl only’ boob ban, as arguments stem from the idea that girls should be able to get their nips out as much as boys!

Nipple banning might be something to do with Facebook’s ban on ‘revenge porn’, or what they’ve called images used to “degrade someone”. They’ve also included a section on “dangerous organisations” that will stop people from expressing support for groups involved with illegal activity.

However, Facebook bosses have done new mamas a solid, by decreeing that “photos of women actively engaging in breastfeeding” are allowed to roam free on our timelines. Breasts with post-mastectomy scarring have been actively given the OK, too.

The new rules are reflective of the news stories that make parents wary of what's going on ‘online’; from angry exes to teens joining terrorist organisations, this could be Facebook’s way of saying it’s ready to take a stand.
