Simon Pegg Is Boldly Going To Write Star Trek 3

Actor stepping up to fill gap left by departed director...

Get ready for a geek-gasm Trekkies (or is it Trekkers?), because it seems Simon Pegg is going to be writing Star Trek 3.

The 44-year-old British star of Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz, who also plays Scotty in the rebooted sci-fi franchise, is claimed by The Hollywood Reporter to be teaming up with Doug Jung to pen the script for the threequel.

Roberto Orci had been engaged to write and direct - but abandoned ship late last year, with Justin Lin being beamed aboard as the new director.

THR claims that Paramount is still hoping to hit its summer 2016 release date for the third instalment of the revived TV and movie franchise.

JJ Abrams directed the first two movies in the new series but was poached by Lucasfilm to make Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
