Simon Pegg Tells Star Trek Snobs To 'F**k Off'

Actor defends popularity of Star Trek Into Darkness after 'worst movie' vote...

Simon Pegg has set his phasers to stun and fired a four-letter volley at fans who voted Star Trek Into Darkness the worst instalment in the sci-fi movie franchise.
The British sitcom actor-turned-Hollywood star - who plays Scotty in the JJ Abrams' directed movie reboots - accused the franchise's hardcore fans of being snobbish.
He told The Huffington Post: "It's asinine, you know? It's ridiculous. And frustrating, as well, because a lot of hard work and love went into that movie, and all JJ wanted to do was make a film that people really enjoyed.
"So, to be subject to that level of sort of, like, crass f**king ire, I just say, 'F**k you'.
"Star Trek Into Darkness is the most successful Star Trek movie ever made.
"It is, in terms of what it took at the box office and how many people went to see it. More people saw that film than any iteration of Star Trek that existed before. That is probably slightly annoying to some Star Trek fans - which I totally understand."
And he compared the criticism to "when you tire of an indie band that you love because they get a number one single".

It has been suggested that the third film in the rebooted series [uuid=010f80c0-747e-4389-a3d9-60551b016f04]could start filming next year[/uuid].
