The first trailer for the eagerly awaited sci-fi sequel Star Trek Into Darkness has been released on the web.
Clocking in at just over a minute, the action-packed trailer features a voiceover from the movie's villain - played by Benedict Cumberbatch - accompanied by scenes of destruction on Earth and explosions and fighting in space.

There are also glimpses of James T Kirk (played by Chris Pine) and Spock (played by Zachary Quinto).
The sequel to JJ Abrams' successful reboot of the vintage sci-fi franchise in 2009 see Cumberbatch's as-yet-unknown villain laying waste to cities on the Earth, before Kirk and co embark on a manhunt for him.
The first [uuid=fecc5ad1-346b-42da-9dc3-830f16acf48a]poster for the movie[/uuid] was revealed earlier this week. The movie is set for release in May next year.
