Star Trek Into Darkness Spock Volcano Clip

An exciting new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness gives a glimpse of a tense scene that sees Zachary Quinto's Mr Spock trapped inside a volcano.

The clip, released on Digital Spy, shows the Chris Pine's Kirk and co communicating with the Vulcan from the bridge of the USS Enterprise, while their first officer frustrates their attempts to rescue him.

The crew are keen to take action to save him from a fiery death, but the ever-logical Vulcan warns them that to do so would violate Starfleet's prime directive.

He tells them: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

And when Kirk asks what Spock would do if their positions were reversed, a fellow officer answers: "He'd let you die."

The eagerly-awaited sci-fi sequel hits UK cinemas on 9 May.
