Star Trek had its premiere in London’s Leicester Square last night with stars including baddie Eric Bana, Simon Pegg and- the new Captain Kirk- Chris Pine in attendance.

Also at the premiere were fellow crew members Zachary Quinto- who plays Spock- and gorgeous Zoe Saldana.

The movie- which charts the early days of the starship- is directed by J.J Abrams who is the man behind TV show Lost and the Cloverfield film.

Talking to MTV News about the movie Pine said: “It was a lot of fun- it was like being a kid. The story is so good that is rises above the rest.

“I’m not a fan but this is a different breed of Star Trek. It’s a very accessible movie and I’m coming from a place where I turned the TV off when it came on!”

Hundreds of fans gathered to greet the cast who hit the special blue carpet in London.

Star Trek is released at cinemas on May 8 and a sequel to the movie is already confirmed.
