Wolverine 2 and the next Star Trek film have been given release dates for 2012.

The second Wolverine movie- which is already a spin off from the X Men franchise- starts shooting in early 2011 and is likely to be in cinemas the year after.

Hugh Jackman will again take the title role in an adventure likely to take place in Japan.

Meanwhile the sequel to last year’s Star Trek reimagining will be on screens on 29 June 2012.

No other details have been confirmed though the main stars Zachary Quinto (Spock) and Chris Pine (Captain Kirk) look set to return in their roles.

The all new Star Trek was directed by J.J Abrams (Lost, Cloverfield), though its currently unknown if he will again get behind the camera.
