Stop what you’re doing, Star Wars fans, because the reveal trailer for Star Wars Battlefront II is here!
The sequel to the 2015 Star Wars shooter will make ALL eras of Star Wars playable – from the prequel movies to The Force Awakens and upcoming The Last Jedi- and will feature the heroes, villains and weapons of those movies too.
Unveiled at massive fan convention Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida, the developers of the game revealed that the single player campaign of the new Star Wars shooter will fall between the events of Return of the Jedi and the recent The Force Awakens – from the point of view of the Imperial side, for the first time.

The new central character of the single player campaign is a female Imperial soldier called Iden Versio, who is commander of an elite special forces unit, Inferno Squad.
The campaign will follow her story from the Empire’s perspective. Mark Thompson, Game Director at Motive Studios who are making the game alongside DICE and Criterion, explains, “When you see the Death Star II explode in the movies, it’s celebrated as a victory. But what would it be like to be a Stormtrooper on the ground and to look up and see it explode, for that to be a moment of loss?”
You’ll also get to play as iconic Star Wars heroes – with the develoeprs revealing that you’ll be able to put down the blaster and pick up a lightsabre to play as Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren too: “You’ll step into the shoes of these heroes and experience a new chapter in their lives.”
What’s more, the stories elaborated on of characters new and old will be canon to the core movie story.
Of course, the best part of 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront was the multiplayer, and the sequel will improve it further by adding all eras of Star Wars playable – from prequels to The Force Awakens - and will feature the heroes, villains and weapons of those movies too.
Fans will also be excited to know that the new game will introduce classes, allowing you to upgrade how your character works as you play.
Space battles are also “going to be a significant part of the game for multiplayer,” promise the development team, with the battles extending across all of the eras, while different ships will have different role types.
The combat will combine the blasters and lightsabers with gadgets, customisable droids, and even your own droid sidekick.
The release date has been revealed as 17th November 2017 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, with early access before then. There’ll also be an offer if you reporder the game to get new Star Wars: The Last Jedi costumes for Kylo Ren and Rey.
