Director Announced For Second Star Wars Spin-Off Movie
As JJ Abrams hints that Millennium Falcon WILL appear in Episode VII...
Josh Trank has been confirmed as the director of the second Star Wars spin-off movie.
The Chronicle director is set to helm a standalone movie which will sit outside of the main series, but is likely to feature familiar characters.
The news was confirmed on the official Lucasfilm website, with company president Kathleen Kennedy saying: "We're thrilled to welcome Josh into the family.
"He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.
And Trank was highly enthusiastic about the job, saying: "The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."
British director Gareth Edwards was recently confirmed to be helming the other spin-off project.

He posted a snap of a table from the spaceship, with a cheeky note attached which read: "I wish people would stop leaking photos from Episode VII. And making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie."
It was confirmed earlier this week that Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie have joined the cast of Episode VII.
