Empire Strikes Back Writer For New Star Wars Films

The screenwriter responsible for Star Wars movie franchise, it has been reported.
Lawrence Kasdan (pictured here with George Lucas) is claimed by The Hollywood Reporter to have been signed up by Lucasfilm's new owners Disney to work on either or both of Episode VIII and Episode IX.
The movie site also claims that Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine writer Michael Arndt has already been engaged to write the first new movie in the series, Episode VII.
Simon Kinberg, who co-wrote Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, is also reported to have been signed alongside Kasdan - with both set to take on production roles as well as writing duties.
THR wrote: "Word of Kasdan and Kinsberg's involvement began spilling out Tuesday, but Disney and Lucasfilm are declining to comment. Official announcements regarding the new Star Wars will appear on StarWars.com, according to the studio."
