Felicity Jones For Female Lead In Star Wars Spin-Off?

British actress reportedly in talks with Disney and Lucasfilm...

The thick cloak of secrecy around Gareth Edwards' planned Star Wars spin-off movie may just have parted enough to allow us a glimpse of the leading lady.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that Lucasfilm and Disney have settled on British actress Felicity Jones for the female lead in the project, following a series of "hush-hush auditions".

The 30-year-old beauty is now reported to be in contractual talks for the as-yet-unrevealed part, having apparently beaten Tatiana Maslany and Rooney Mara to the gig.

No details have been released about the plot of the spin-off, although Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are both reported to be in the frame as male lead.

As if to emphasise the early doors nature of the project, a new writer was only just hired last week in the form of Chris Weitz - taking over from Gary Whitta, who penned a first draft.

And if you're wondering where you've seen Jones before, she's up for an Oscar for her portrayal of Jane Hawking in The Theory Of Everything and has also appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Like Crazy, Brideshead Revisited and - ahem - The Worst Witch.
